Ted Rogers, owner of Blue Jays, dies at 75

Ted Rogers, owner of the Toronto Blue Jays, died at his home on Tuesday. He was 75.

The founder of Rogers Communications Inc., Canada's largest cable television and mobile phone company, was treated in October for an existing heart condition, the company said.

Rogers Communications owns the Blue Jays and their home at the Rogers Centre, several television stations and an array of other media properties including Maclean's and Chatelaine magazines.

Rogers bought the Blue Jays in 2000. This year, he arranged for the Buffalo Bills to play eight games over five years in Toronto.

World Series shares remain below 2006 record: A full World Series share was worth $351,504 for the Philadelphia Phillies , below the record $362,173 set by the St . Louis Cardinals two years ago.

Major League Baseball said that the players' pool for the postseason was $51.16 million, down from $52.46 million last year and a record $55.60 million in 2006.

Full shares for the League Championship Series losers came to $102,231 for the Red Sox and $102,794 for the Dodgers.

Among first-round losers, full shares were worth $32,002 for the Angels, $28,296 for Milwaukee, $27,828 for the Chicago White Sox and $25,033 for the Chicago Cubs .

Mets say ballpark will remain Citi Field: The New York Mets say the name Citi Field will remain on their new ballpark and believe the struggling bank will survive its current economic crisis following a government bailout.

Citigroup is paying the Mets $400 million over 20 years for naming rights to the stadium, scheduled to open next year. Two New York City councilmen said last week that the ballpark's name should be changed to Citi/Taxpayer Field.

"We think we can bring the right people to help them market their product so that they can be a going concern," Mets chief operating officer Jeff Wilpon said. "It's not really Citi's fault that they're in this problem. They're a lot of other banks in the same situation."

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

Kelly named to succeed Bellotti

Oregon picked offensive coordinator Chip Kelly to be head coach Mike Bellotti's eventual successor, though school officials did not say when that will happen.

Bellotti will become the school's athletic director when he steps down. He said he will coach the Ducks in their bowl game and continue to recruit.

Asked if he would step down after this season, Bellotti told reporters during a conference call he didn't think so.

"It could be a year, it could be more," he said. "I don't know."

Bellotti is 115-55 in 14 seasons at Oregon and has taken the Ducks to 12 bowl games.

Mumme out as New Mexico State coach: New Mexico State fired football coach Hal Mumme, ending a four-year run.

Mumme had a 18 record as NMSU's head coach.
