Blue Jays: Mike Maroth faced major leaguer batters for the first time since 2007, giving up two runs in two innings of the Toronto Blue Jays' 6-4 loss to Canada on Tuesday in Dunedin, Fla. "My arm felt great," said Maroth, a former Detroit Tigers pitcher who was out with a shoulder injury last season.

BREWERS: Right-hander Braden Looper will miss his second consecutive spring training start because of a strained oblique muscle and might not be ready for opening day.

Mets: Johan Santana's tender elbow might keep the Mets' ace from making his first start until the second series of the season. The two-time Cy Young winner tentatively is set to make his spring debut March 18.

Yankees: Derek Jeter finally got to experience playing against the New York Yankees. "It was strange running to the other dugout," he said. Normally the Yankees captain, Jeter played for the United States ahead of the World Baseball Classic and hit a two-run single in Team USA's 6-5 victory against New York in Tampa, Fla. Jeter went 2-for-4 with a walk in a contest that "seemed like an intrasquad game" to him.
