The TORONTO BLUE JAYS are pleased to announce the following appointments to the scouting department for the 2009 season.

PERRY MINASIAN has been named Major League Scout. The 28-year old, was most recently a Major League Advance Scout for the Texas Rangers the past two seasons. Perry brings 21 years of Baseball experience to the organization, having served as a batboy for the Rangers from 1988-96, then serving as a clubhouse attendant from 1997-2002, before moving into a scouting role in 2003 as a Staff Assistant.

STEVE SPRINGER has been appointed to the position of Professional Scout. The Long Beach, California native spent the past six seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks, the last four as a National Crosschecker. The 47-year old, played 14 seasons of professional Baseball, collecting over 1600 hits, including parts of two seasons in the majors, with Cleveland (1990) and the New York Mets (1992).

BOB FONTAINE will join the Blue Jays as a National Crosschecker. In his 37th season working in Baseball, he spent the last five seasons as the Seattle Mariners Vice President of Scouting. Fontaine was awarded the Roland Hemond Award from the Society for Baseball Research (SABR) in 2006 for his meritorious service to scouting. The veteran Baseball man now has the distinction of having worked for both the Blue Jays and Montreal Expos (West Coast Supervisor, 1982-86).

RICK INGALLS has been appointed to the position of Area Scout, responsible for Southern California. The Long Beach California resident was recently a National Crosschecker for the Seattle Mariners the past four seasons. A former draft pick of the Oakland Athletics in 1973, Ingalls brings 25 years of scouting experience to the organization.

MARC TRAMUTA has been promoted to the position of Professional Scout. He previously was a National Crosschecker for the club and has been with the Blue Jays since 2003. The Dunkirk, New York native was responsible for signing five players in the Blue Jays system currently, including 2007 pick Justin Jackson selected 45th overall in Round 1A (compensation round).

HARRY EINBINDER has been hired as Assistant, Baseball Research. The New York, New York native first joined the Blue Jays in the ticket department in 2005, and was recently an intern in Baseball operations last season. Einbinder also spent part of 2007 working for the Mexican Baseball Academy.
