Blue Jays second baseman Aaron Hill is showing no ill effects from the concussion problems that plagued him after a collision with David Eckstein in a game last May.

Hill never made it back because of post-concussion syndrome, but this spring he is looking as good as ever. In fact, Brian Butterfield, the Blue Jays' infield coach, sees an improved player.

"He's looking real good," Butterfield said. "I'm real pleased where his feet are at, and I told him the other day he's in midseason form -- his feet are real good, so that's a great start. He knows what he has to do to get better. He's hungry and he's working hard.

"In fact, he's better than he was last year at this time. He starts the double play better, he's quicker and more consistent. I think he's working the double play pivot where he's more consistent with his hand placement and his feet, and those are the things that you're looking for. And his range is very good."

Manager Cito Gaston intends to bat Hill out of the No. 2 spot in the order. "He can spray the ball around, move the runners over and can also hit in the gaps," Gaston said.
