--This season it took the Blue Jays until their second game of the season (Tuesday) to record a walk-off victory on Rod Barajas' sacrifice fly in the ninth inning. Last year, the Blue Jays didn't record a walk-off victory until July 8 vs. Baltimore. --RHP Scott Richmond, who opens the season as the No. 5 starter in the rotation, is the first Canadian-born starter on the club since Paul Quantrill started the 1996 season in the rotation. Richmond, who is a native of Vancouver, is just the third Canadian-born starter in Blue Jays history, with Denis Boucher (1991) being the other.
--Manager Cito Gaston was thrilled with rookie LHP Ricky Romero's emergence this spring. "He seems like he's improved every time out there," Gaston said.
