Toronto Blue Jays Notes, Quotes 2009-04-15
--The Jays headed into Tuesday's game leading the league in runs scored (54) and batting average (.322). Much of that success is because of the hitting exploits of DH Adam Lind and rookie LF Travis Snider. "We've had the bats," Snider said of the Jays' success in their opening eight games. "It's just a matter of swinging them. We've got great hitters, one through nine. It's one of those things that you don't want to get too excited about, but it's a good sign for us, definitely."

--RHP Jason Frasor used to throw a split-finger fastball to complement his fastball and slider. The splitter, though, was not reliable, so this season Frasor has dropped it and has gone with a changeup where he employs a hybrid circle change-splitter grip. In the opening week, Frasor has used it with success. "Right now, I have a pretty good feel for it," Frasor said. "I'm going to ride it until it doesn't work anymore."

BY THE NUMBERS: 25-47 -- Strikes to pitches that closer B.J. Ryan has thrown this season through two appearances.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I'll run him out there again, I'll run him out there as many times as you can." -- Manager Cito Gaston, on how he'll continue to go to struggling LHP B.J. Ryan in save situations.
