Toronto Blue Jays Notes, Quotes 2009-04-21
--The Jays have won four consecutive series of three games or more to start a season for the first time in club history. The Jays' club record for winning consecutive series to start a season is six, set in 2001. That record incudes winning a series in Texas 1-0 due to inclement weather.

--Sunday's lineup for the Blue Jays featured Lyle Overbay at first base and Travis Snider in left field. Big deal, you say. Actually it was, as it marked the first time this season that Overbay and Snider, two left-handed hitters, have started against a left-handed pitcher. It paid immediate dividends when Overbay singled in the second inning to drive in the Blue Jays' only run. Adam Lind, the other left-handed hitter on the team, was given the day off with Kevin Millar taking over the DH duties. Dallas Braden started for Oakland, the sixth left-handed starter the Blue Jays have faced in their first 14 games.

BY THE NUMBERS: 10 -- The number of walks LHP David Purcey has issued in his last two starts.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I think they pull for each other. You see them in the dugout, when one does something good, the other one is there. It's not too often you get to play with somebody you came through the minor leagues with. I think it's all a plus." -- Manager Cito Gaston on the bond between DH Adam Lind and rookie LF Travis Snider.
