--Assistant GM Alex Anthopoulos, who is accompanying the Jays on their trip, was absent for a few days as he flew to Sacramento to watch LHP Brett Cecil and LHP Brad Mills make back-to-back starts for Class AAA Las Vegas. Both Cecil and Mills were in the running for a spot in the Jays rotation through spring training. Neither pitcher has a win this season. Cecil is 0-3 with an 8.31 ERA, while Mills is 0-2 with a 4.71 ERA.
--With the loss Wednesday, the Jays' streak of consecutive series won to start a season ended at six. --RHP Jesse Litsch got a clean bill of health after being examined by Dr. James Andrews. "Good news," said manager Cito Gaston. "Jesse is going to Florida now for a couple of weeks where he'll throw on flat ground. If there are no additional problems (with his right forearm) we expect to have him back with us in three weeks or a month."
