Toronto Blue Jays Notes, Quotes 2009-05-02
--2B Aaron Hill finished April with 38 hits, which was tops in the Major League. The total, though, is one hit shy of the Jays' club record of 39, co-held by Shannon Stewart (2005) and Shea Hillenbrand (2005).

--Through the opening month, a total of 24 games, the Jays had just two pinch-hit at-bats which tied them with Cleveland for the fewest pinch-hit attempts in the league. The Jays have gone 1-for-2 in that department, LF Travis Snider going 1-for-1 with SS John McDonald 0-for-1. The Indians are also 1-for-2 in the pinch-hitting department. The American League team with the most pinch-hit attempts is the White Sox who have gone 1-for-14.

--With the loss Wednesday, the Jays' streak of consecutive series won to start a season ended at six.

--RHP Jesse Litsch got a clean bill of health after being examined by Dr. James Andrews. "Good news," said manager Cito Gaston. "Jesse is going to Florida now for a couple of weeks where he'll throw on flat ground. If there are no additional problems (with his right forearm) we expect to have him back with us in three weeks or a month."

BY THE NUMBERS: 12 -- Position players on the Jays' roster who have hit at least one home run this season. The only one who hasn't hit one is backup SS John McDonald.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "Right now, all we have to do as pitchers is keep it within a touchdown." --- LHP Brian Tallet who collected the victory in the Jays' 14-0 shellacking of the White Sox on April 24.
