Toronto Blue Jays Notes, Quotes 2008-09-02
--With his win over the Yankees on Sunday, RHP Roy Halladay (17-9) has won four consecutive games. Over that stretch he has beaten the Yankees twice, Boston and Tampa. In the four games he has allowed eight earned runs in 29 innings for a 2.48 ERA, walked three and struck out 23.

--The home run by 3B Scott Rolen on Sunday was his first since Aug. 1 versus the Rangers and just his second since June 26th versus Cincinnati.

--LF Adam Lind had an excellent July, where he hit safely in 22 of 24 games for a .379 overall average. But Lind faded in August, hitting 29-for-109 (.266). Lind managed just one double in the entire month of August and over his past seven games he's hitting 5-for-29 (.172) with one RBI.

--C Rod Barajas is enjoying his renaissance with the Jays after an injury-plagued and wasted 2007 season with the Phillies. As a result he's having a season similar to his final one in Texas in 2006. In 2006, Barajas appeared in 97 games hitting .256 with 11 homers and 41 RBIs. This season, Barajas has played in 93 games and he's hitting .260 with 11 homers and 47 RBIs.

--INF John McDonald has taken over the shortstop position, which allowed the Jays to move SS David Eckstein to the Diamondbacks. McDonald, though gifted defensively, continues to struggle at the plate. On the season, he's hitting .219, while in his past five games he's gone 2-for-17 (.118).

BY THE NUMBERS: 100 -- The speed in miles per hour on a fastball by Jays reliever Brandon League in the seventh inning Saturday against the Yankees. League, who missed almost all of 2007 with muscle issues in his back, has been dominating the past month.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I enjoyed my time (as a Jay) and the fans were unbelievable. The organization was unbelievable and I had a blast there. I'll look forward to going back there (Rogers Centre) for the WBC (World Baseball Classic), that's for sure." -- Veteran Canadian DH Matt Stairs, who was traded to the Phillies.
